ECC Product Lead VETbytes
Dr Katie (Curtis) Smith BA VetMB CertAVP(ECC) MRCVS
I recently joined the VETbytes team having been impressed by the ECC module. I’ve worked in out-of-hours practice since 2014 and I know that sickening sensation of feeling out of your depth with a very ill patient, particularly when it’s the middle of the night and it’s all on you to save its life! Having immediate access to a reliable, practical, up-to-date resource in those moments makes such a difference, not just to patient outcomes, but to your own confidence, well-being and enjoyment of the ECC caseload. I’m really excited to be involved with VETbytes as I passionately believe that this tool can make a real difference to patients and vets.
As well as working with VETbytes, I still work in clinical practice, managing teams across four branches and two 24/7 hospitals that both provide out-of-hours services to local practices. Despite having a lot of ECC experience, I still learn new things by referring to VETbytes for my cases, and it gives me confidence to know I’m keeping my knowledge up-to-date. One of my favourite features is the ‘latest updates feed’ – between 2 jobs and a 2-year-old, trawling journal papers isn’t top of my to-do list, but the updates feed tells me exactly what I need to know in just a few minutes.
Outside of work, I love spending time with my family and friends exploring the Sussex countryside (ideally via a pub or cafe) and trying new restaurants.
